Welcome to WORDSUP 3.0-May The Foods Be Ever In Your Flavour.

Literature shouldn’t merely be a medium to teach a language,but also a celebration of the various facets of language. A student’s creativity need not be tested only during examinations, but should be kindled and appreciated always. A platform to celebrate literature and enhance creativity requires the form of a mega event. And the English Department headed by Dr. Prema Rocha of St. Xavier’s college, Mapusa, is all set to host WODRSUP 3.0-May The Foods Be Ever In Your Flavour from 14-16 February, 2019 in the college campus.

It is unanimously assumed that English literature is all about Shakespeare, Milton, Yeats or Rushdie.  But the English Department of St. Xavier’s thinks beyond the horizon. While Wordsup 2.0 was styled around everyone’s popular source of entertainment-CARTOONS, Wordsup 3.0 is geared up to provide one with a succulent and scrumptious experience with the theme being FOOD. So do not miss this three day banquet.

What is Wordsup?
Wordsup is an intercollegiate event that celebrates the English language through a series of word based competitions. Wordsup caters to all connoisseurs of English across streams.It invites participation from colleges within and outside Goa. Wordsup pushes one’s creativity to its limits not only with regard to writing or reading, but also with regard to acting, rapping, debating, painting or cooking. The food platter involves events like Terribly Tiny Tales, Shipwrecked, Rap Battle, Treasure Hunt, Spelling Bee, Mad ad, Casatta, Debate, Crossword and the buffet doesn’t end. And the cherry on the cake is Writer’s Corner.

Writer’s Corner
Wordsup is a three day event that commences with Writer’s Corner as a curtain raiser on the first day followed by the competitive events on the next two days. Writer’s corner acts as an apt platform to interact with eminent authors while also providing amateur authors and poets to present their writings before an enthusiastic audience. Writer’s corner comprises of three sessions-the first being an interview with an acclaimed author, the second is a panel discussion between two or more authors on relevant topics and the third is an Open Mic where anybody can showcase their literary talents. The previous editions of Wordsup have witnessed the presence of eminent authors, academicians and literary enthusiasts like Jose Lourenco, Wendell Rodricks, VivekMenezes, Jugneeta Sudan, Brian Mendonca, Frederick Noronha, Rochelle Potkar, SafinaSaudagar and NidaSayid. This time, NanditaHaksar, author of Flavours Of Nationalism will be invited and she will be conversing with Research Scholar Ibha Gupta on her book. The panel discussion will see the presence of Nolan Mascarenhas , Jade and Akio Fernandes.

The making of Wordsup undergoes a rigorous preparation of six months with volunteers offering their faithful time and service post college hours, brainstorming to make the competition appealing and challenging.  In the college too it unites the Anglophiles of all streams and serves as an opportunity to help students acquire the skills of cooperation, coordination and organization. Every volunteer puts their best foot forward to provide a memorable impression.
